Abseil for BF Adventure and the Firebrigade

Saturday 2nd October 2010
@ Lusty Glaze Adventure Centre, Newquay.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service's Fire and Ice Team have once again joined together with their friends at BF Adventure and Lusty Glaze to bring you a sponsored abseil.

The last time we teamed up was back in 2006, abseiling at the National Maritime Museum Falmouth and at the Eden Project St Austell.
The events were a huge success, raising over £12.000 for 3 charities. The Fire Fighters Charity, Children with Leukaemia and BF Adventure. This time however we are also raising money for Help For Heroes.

We wanted to bring you something different this time, this is where our friends at Lusty Glaze come in. They have kindly let us use their site for the day. An 80ft cliff face which descends onto one of Cornwall's most beautiful beaches.
All you have to do is raise a minimum sponsorship of £50 per individual or £200 per team of 6. There is a prize for the most money raised for both Individual and team entrants.

To secure your place please fill out the registration form and send a deposit of £15 for individual, £60 for team entries to James Marks c/o Bodmin Fire Station, Berrycombe Rd, Bodmin Cornwall PL31 2NS. Please make all cheques payable to Fire and Ice Challenge. You will then be sent a letter of confirmation along with your time of abseil and sponsorship form by post. Time of abseil, once confirmed, can also be viewed on this website.

Please note that there is a minimum age of 14 years for this event.

E2E at Trevarno Gardens

Yesterday our Entry to Employment group (E2E) went to Trevarno Gardens, who is one of our corporate partners and had kindly allowed us visit them with one of our courses. Everyone had a fantastic time, strolling around the gardens and exploring exotic plants. The group also went on an exciting treasure hunt around the site, trying to find as many of the required hints as possible to be able to solve the puzzle. The day ended with a nice hot chocolate at Trevarno's cafe. A truly adventurous day. Some participants of the E2E programme are now looking to return to the gardens on a work experience day.
